Yes, almost there!
I've been chatting with the creators of The Indiego, a new free ad exchange service for artisans, about how to make this service work for those of us suffering under the restraints of vox.com.
They've been kind enough (kind enough? that's an understatement) to fiddle with it so that their tracker will actually detect ads placed in our vox.com widget boxes - thanks to their hard work I now have an ad in rotation, and so can you! In addition, the script now opens up ads and links to The Indiego in a new window instead of our widget boxes - making this a fully functional ad exchange option for us Vox users!
Since The Indiego has to detect ad placement on your website before you can put an ad of your own into rotation, your ad image won't link directly to your Etsy shop (but you CAN put a link in your description). Still, it's been proven that traffic on my blog here has resulted in sales in my Etsy shop, so hey... Free promotion is free promotion, right? I just wish some peoples' ads weren't so big, as the bigger ones get cut off in my sidebar and I have no control over that. It be lookin' tacky and there's no way for me to just delete ads that don't look good.
And, almost there on the camera campaign, too! I am truly only about $20 - $30 shy of having raised all the money I need to buy my new digital camera now. These three items are the latest to have left the building. I've got quite a busy week ahead! Thankfully, many of these items are already made, but I've still got two pairs of earrings and a pendant to crank out. I'm not complaining though, not complaining in the least. I'm quite frankly amazed that I've been able to raise the camera funds in a mere week, and thrilled that it's been possible as it would have taken me another month of paychecks to get the funds together, otherwise (my paychecks are already earmarked toward bills that I accrued after three months of unemployment - like my car insurance!). That being said, the 15% discount for Ravelers and voxers is still on until I raise that last $30! If that's for you, just make sure you let me know you saw it here or on Ravelry when you place your order.
In typical Oregon fashion, there is a torrential downpour taking place, with intermittent and beautiful spots of bright sunshine. Right now, there's a spot of sunshine and so it's time for me to go take a walk in the woods. I will sadly have to leave my secret country abode after I give the cats their evening meal tonight. Back to Portland and tomorrow, back to the office for my final week of 8am-5pm data entry drudgery.
After that, I'll be headed to my new employers - I'm looking forward to telling people I work for The Divination Foundation! I've found out recently, too, that in addition to getting this great book into library systems and independent/metaphysical bookstores around the country I'll be working on the website, too. Something tells me it's going to be blog-related (gee, how surprising, lol).
If you've got a great metaphysical/new age/spiritual bookshop in your part of town, please let me know about it! Our book is available through a major distributor of New Age, metaphysical and spiritual titles.
Alrighty then, walk time. And then breakfast time. Yes, breakfast, at 11:30am. And then quite honestly I hope it starts raining again. I'd really like to keep going with these socks I'm knitting - it might be wise to tackle the complicated parts while my brain's functioning at a daytime level.
